VR or Virtual Reality are becoming a trend recently. Knowing that trend, Diana – a Japanese brand approached us for a 360 viral clip to promote their new product. The experience of watching a 360 video is very different from watching a traditional video. Therefore, to create it, we also had to adapt and apply a completely new production pipeline.
Basically, nothing can hide in 360 viewing perspective. The audiences can see what are in front, what’re behind, above or below at anytime they want so instead of making only the part in front of camera looks good, we needed to make everything around the camera looks good and maintain it throughout the length of the film. Another thing to learn is that in order to bring a good viewing experience, a 360 video cannot have many cuts or in other words the whole clip is one take shot. If there was any small mistake, it would definitely be caught on the camera and we would have to do the whole take again and again until everything looks great.
